Synopsis

NORN vol.1 -The 9 Daughters of RAN is an interactive animated series that explores the human brain via a dark Nordic Fairytale. The mind’s Will is enslaved by the Queen of Fear, imagination is slowly fading. Time is running out. This immersive story invites the audience to join GULLVEIG, a cognitive thought and Dream-Designer, on an immersive journey to venture the brain with a dangerous Quest: To free the Will from enslavement in the reptile brain, and to save the State of Fantasy. ’The 9 Daughters of RAN’ is the first chapter of this Hero’s Journey set inside the mind, and summons you to the weavers of Fate, the Norns, who wants the ‘chosen one’ to answer the call to Adventure and enter the Fantastical world, in order to help Gullveig on her Quest. This episode portrays the Norse prophecy of Ragnarok, and the conflict that has arisen in the internal world. Here , the ‘goddesses of fate’ will use the ‘tree of life’ as a metaphor for the conscious mind, and invite viewers to become an important part of the story itself. To be taken on a voyage inside the brain, in order to help the protagonist on her ‘Hero’s Journey’.

Biography

Lina Reinsbakken is a classically trained Photographer and Artist with an MA in Fine Art and Moving Image Storytelling from London University of the Arts.Since 2015 Lina has been an avid VR enthusiast, and after founding the immersive content company Norn Studio, she produced the VR demo experience «The Little Thought», which was selected and shown at a wide range of festivals, including Asia New Media, Nabshow Shanghai and World VR Forum. Lina is a skilled creative director and highly competent in visual communication, with a broad background within illustration and commercial photography. As an International award winning photographer and painter, Lina has had a long range of exhibitions in US and Europe, and worked as Creative Director at R&M Advertising in NY. Lina is focused on immersive storytelling and trans media content geared towards the entertainment and educational market. Through the process of narrative creation with storytellers and technologists, she is exploring the opportunities for content narratology, and aim to accelerate knowledge transfer by the use of fairytales and immersion.
