Biography
Jan Kounen is a French director, producer and screenwriter, born on May 2, 1964 in Utrecht, Netherlands. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice and began his career as an assistant operator. In 1989, he directed the short film entitled Gisèle Kérosène. His first production won the Grand Prize in the category at the Film Festival Fantastic in Avoriaz.
Kounen then spent some time in advertising before returning to cinema. The short film Vibroboy received the Prix de la Research at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in 1995. He also directed Dobermann with Vincent Cassel in 1996 is his first feature film. With the film the subject of much controversy, Jan Kounen went to South America. On his return to the old continent, he again called on Vincent Cassel to shoot the western Blueberry. He then directed Other Worlds and then Darshan - the embrace (2005).
