While there have been many time and space constraints created by Covid-19, there has been a great effort in order to overcome these obstacles. Cannes XR, the XR division of the Cannes Film Festival that successfully created a virtual exhibition last year, is teaming up with the NewImages Festival this year to prepare for a more robust global exhibition. As public spaces are still closed down, XR3 intends to lead the globalization of XR contents through a virtual exhibition platform and a global network of exhibitors.
A total of 50 works that have been invited to XR3 are exhibited on the official platform, Museum of Other Realities (MOR). MOR is an exhibition platform that not only specializes in presenting XR content with a fusion of multiple genres, but is also able to bring an actual film festival-like experience through various events, parties, and networking opportunities. If you have the equipment to enjoy XR content, even without traveling abroad you can still have the experience of participating in an international film festival.
In addition to the virtual exhibition platform, it is also important to highlight the global network of exhibitors. The futuristic content and the methods of enjoying them is clearly moving forward, with the XR technology used and the spaces in which we use them. However, the low penetration rate of VR devices and the necessity of computers equipped with expensive graphics cards have become obstacles to the popularization of this content. In order to overcome these issues, XR3 will be expanding the scope of the event by partnering with like-minded global partners. In Korea, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Incheon International Airport Corporation, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, will cooperate to jointly host the XR3 exhibition and present a variety of premium XR content to the domestic audience.
The XR3 collaborative exhibition can be found at the Beyond Reality exhibition space for 12 days from July 6th to July 17th. Experience immersive virtual reality content in both the physical and virtual world.
